Welcome

For a long time I have been saying that I should write a blog about our family for our friends who live far away. As more of our friends are moving away I have finally got myself organised to do one!! Who knows how this will go - bear with me as I work this out :) Let the blogging begin.....

Weekend Away 2012

We had our first weekend away with church after 4 years - Xavi was a baby last time we went. We had it at Kiah Ridge at Tahmoor - really nice place and not too far away.
Lots of stuff to ponder after some great talks.
The boys slept in sleeping bags for the first time - very exciting!!
Bibby and Matt came and ran the kids program which meant the girls came too - yay! The boys had so much fun - so did all the kids. They were blessed to have such enthusiastic, godly, fun teachers/friends for the weekend.

These are our friends Rhianna and Sarah - such cuties!

Stupid tree

So the problem tree at the front of our house is just a pest. Not only does it have long roots that threaten to ruin our driveway even though they have been removed already it also has yucky flowers. I use the word flowers loosely. They are funny hangy flowery things covered on pollen that then drops all over the road, path, cars, driveway - you name it!! During the day they are covered in bees and you can hear the constant hum of buzzy bees. In my old age I am now sensitive to this stupid all encompassing pollen and it makes me feel itchy and sneezey - grrrrrrr Stupid trees! I can't remember how long this yucky pollen stuff lasts - hopefully not long. As opposed to our beautiful gum tree which always looks lovely, doesn't make me sneeze and for a few months of the year brings the 'pretty birds to the yard' - that tree we love. Why didn't they plant those tress up and down the street?? So today I am grateful for gumtrees - but not stupid trees.

Grateful #2

Today I am grateful for little boys and especially little boys who actually listened to instructions and beautifully cleaned their rooms. Boys who enjoy playing together despite the age difference. Healthy happy boys. (I won't mention the unimpressive whining and carry on at dinner - that would ruin the picture).

Helping

I am the first to admit that our gardening skills leave much to be desired. The trees that line the driveway have died and our front grass (which is really weeds, clover and bindis) keeps sprouting shoots from the council keen tree.
Berty is pulling the dead trees down and the boys helped dig up pesky shoots and roots. I don't think it will make the boys into gardeners but it's a start!

Saturday morning

The church working bee was postponed til next Saturday - what to do?? Go to the movies :) It was Xavier's third movie experience and all things considered he wasn't too bad. He kept saying he didn't like it but was relatively still so I will count it a success. We saw Madagascar 3 - Berty and I really liked it, so did Seth and I think by the afternoon so did Xavier.

School uniform

So it's miserable weather wise here today. Xavi and I went out this morning to break up the day and are watching Hairspray this afternoon - he's dancing I'm watching.
Anyway I thought I better get Xav to try on the school uniforms Seth wore in Kindy. Yeah well let's just say we'll be buying new uniforms for Xavi! They swim on him! Pretty funny. I am hoping they go down to a size2 in shorts cause Seth is still wearing size 6 and I think even a 4 would be too big! School uniforms only ever come in even number sizes - bit annoying really. Anyway I am still laughing at how big the shirt and jumper was on him! Also a little freaked out that we are at this point in his life already. He does his first orientation day on Monday - first of 3 - only found out the other day - nothing like good communication!
