Welcome

For a long time I have been saying that I should write a blog about our family for our friends who live far away. As more of our friends are moving away I have finally got myself organised to do one!! Who knows how this will go - bear with me as I work this out :) Let the blogging begin.....

School 2014

So this year we started Year 1 and Year 4. Xavier was ready to go and happy to see his friends again. He wanted to run to school because that is healthy and he went running with Uncle Michael while we were on holidays. (he didn't end up running but I ended up carrying his bag...hmmmm) Seth was a bit of a wreck - nervous about whether he would have friends in his class and if he would have the teacher he is scared of and.....he is so much like me, poor kid.

Anyway once we got to school Seth was ok. He found his friends quickly and seemed ok after that. He came out of school happy cause he has all his buddies in his class again and he has Mrs O'Gorman which he is happy about. So all good.

Xavier also has a bunch of friends in his class. He is currently in a K/1 which I think will remain unless they get more Kinder enrolments. There are 10 year 1 kids and so far it's just been them as they work out which kinders would cope in a K/1 class. He has two lovely job share teachers - Mrs McDonald for 3 days and Mrs Norris for 2 days. I'm praying that the class stays as is and that he keeps these teachers. He is happy so far and going to school without crying so a win for Week 1!

Australia Day

We are a day late, but as we did last year, we headed to Bulli beach for a family day and a last chance to go to the beach in the holidays. It was a beautiful day and we had a great time. (We did miss our beach buddies from the the last two weeks).
Bert's back to school tomorrow and the boys go on Wednesday. I start work officially on Wednesday too, but really that's already started.

Out with the old

After much whinging on my part about the colour of our bedroom and hating the sheets and the the doona cover and it feeling drab etc etc etc....Berty painted our room! Yay! It is just plain white which leaves so much scope for changing colours of furnishings when I get bored.
I/we are so much happier. It feels fresh and clean and a nice place to be. In fact I am sitting in said bedroom as I type, enjoying the open window and breeze and a fresh feeling room.
The sales have been kind to us so we could get a new doona cover, cushions, throw rug, sheets and lamps. Laura had given us the lanterns for Christmas and Liz gave me the funky new ceramic handles for the drawers. Just need to get rid of the massive clock radio now.

Coming Home

Having two weeks holiday with good friends, fun times, warm weather, beach fun and lots of relaxing is a really good idea! We didn't want to come home but it was nice to see Indie again ( and she's well again) and sleep in our queen size bed (it seems much bigger after two weeks in double beds!). We feel rested and ready to take on Term 1. I know that feeling won't last long as February is my grumpy month due to everything going back and the unbelievable heat BUT at the moment we are ok!

When we got home our gum tree had put on its pretty dress and the pretty birds were back. It's a small treat that God gives to us each year. It made coming home just a little easier - although I'd trade it to be back on holidays in a heartbeat!!

Summer Holiday Part 2 - Sams Fun

What a blessing to get two weeks holiday this summer! What a blessing to get to spend it with two of our favourite families.
The second week we didn't have a pool but we did get a bit more sunshine and more beach days. Seth is just in his element at the beach - he loves all of it! The smile on his face is worth every penny that a summer holiday costs. The week was spent with many trips to the beach, 'screening', lizard hunting, spider watching (eek!), chatting, cricket watching, Pimms drinking, povo markets, yummy First Pour coffee, prawns and more trips to the beach. It's like the Sams' never left. The kids had a blast. Xavier got along with Ethan a lot better than I had anticipated and they made a cute team at times.

It was with much sadness that the week ended. Poor Seth shed some quiet tears - I think perhaps there were two goodbyes worth cause he revisited saying goodbye to the Hanna's while being sad about the Sams' holiday ending. He reminds me so much of myself. I still cry and I'm 37!

What a fabulous 2 weeks we had with wonderful friends. Such fabulous memories made....they'll get us through until next we meet!

Summer Holiday Part 1 - Hanna Fun

What a treat to go on a summer holiday this year. What a treat to spend a week with the Hanna's! The house we stayed in was amazing and we had such a great time chatting, reading, swimming, dolphin spotting, colouring/drawing, playing, 'screening' and just being together. The boys got along really well on the most part and just loved being together. We are so grateful for friends we've known for a long time and who we can know we can have wonderful time with. Thank you Hanna's for helping us to make some great memories for our boys!!
There are many photos but here are a few....

Ok a few more than a few.

Frozen

What a fabulous movie! I loved it so much. The music was beautiful and the storyline a bit new and different. The boys even liked it.
