Welcome

For a long time I have been saying that I should write a blog about our family for our friends who live far away. As more of our friends are moving away I have finally got myself organised to do one!! Who knows how this will go - bear with me as I work this out :) Let the blogging begin.....

Bookworm

Seth has been able to read since Kindy - he picked it up easily. However it's really only in the last few weeks that a real love of reading by himself has happened. Thanks to Zac Power and Diary of a Wimpy Kid he is now hooked.
Yesterday was a miserable, rainy, windy afternoon. Xavier was playing near me but I hadn't seen Seth for 30mins or so. When I went to find him he was curled up under his doona with the lamp on reading his book. Warms my heart.

Meanwhile muscles was showing me his 'liftweighting'

Fathers' Day Breakfast

As with many of you fine people Fathers' Day is usually crazy busy fitting in church and extended family. This year soccer was kind enough to finish in August which meant this morning was free - free to do one of our favourite things GO OUT FOR BREAKFAST :) :) :)
I have wanted Berty to experience Woods for a long time so today we finally could. Although 2 accidents on the M5 meant both the trip in and trip home were very long we persevered - it was worth it! Woods holds some lovely memories for me of good friends and good food. Berty was suitably impressed - phew!

Countdown

The countdown is on! We are counting down to hear that Aunty Jacqui has had her baby. (We know she is probably counting this down with much more earnest than us but we are super excited and know that it is soon!!!) We are counting down til the holidays. We are counting down until we get on a plane and go and see the Sams. I am counting down til there is a free day that I can go and hang out with Steph! I am counting down until I don't have to go to Bookworms anymore! (Don't get me wrong I really love the ladies who are there and the lady who runs it does an excellent job - however - I don't really like under 5's on mass. I don't mind them a few at a time but a whole room of them is just not my thing and now that there is a light at the end of the tunnel I am impatient to get there!) I am counting down til I can do more casual work (I know that sounds crazy but I go a bit nuts being home too much and I am keen to get out there - even just one day a week - and make a bit of money and teach some classes. I don't want a another job especially seeing as I do already have a 2 day a week + the rest job for church but a few extra casual days would be nice - get us a bit of money and get me out of the house a bit more) Although it is looming I am not really counting down Xavi going to school. Don't get me wrong there are days I wish he was there already but I will miss my little friend being here with me - hence the need to work an extra day - i'll be lonely without him. So may the countdowns continue.......

Love-el-ess

So Xavier is insisting on using the word love-el-ess (loverless) which we have repeatedly told him is not a word AND if it was a word then it wouldn't be a very nice one! So now it is the standing joke - he tells us that lovely (loverly) isn't a word and we tell him loverless isn't a word. The child is a nutcase!! He's funny and a bit wacky but really a nutcase!! We love our little loverless nutcase xo

Gala Day

Today was the last week of soccer and so they have a gala day - which for the younger teams just means you play 2 games and then get a medal. Although I whinged quite a bit about going it was actually a beautiful sunny day and not too hot. Although the boys' behavior before we left was unpleasant they were good while we were there for the 4 hours. Except for presentation day that is soccer done for 2012 - we will welcome some Saturday sleep ins and no training on a Wed night. Seth has had a really great coach this year and has enjoyed playing - hooray it's only taken 3 years!!!

How else would you end a day of soccer but with fairy floss as big as your head?

Botanical Gardens

A rare free Sunday afternoon led to a trip to the gardens. We were only there for an hour or so but it was nice to be out and together.

Xavier chose to wear a beanie rather than a sun hat to the gardens - it was a beautiful sunny day - crazy child!

Lemons Lemons Lemons

Lovely Sue next door has kindly been sharing her lemons from her lemon tree. I have soooo many! I made a lemon loaf earlier in the week, Steph used one in her delicious risotto that she made for us on Thursday night and today I have made lemon brownies (yellowies???) and another lemon loaf ( cause the first one was so yummy!!!) AND I still have at least 10 in the basket!!! I know I should make lemon curd but I love it too much and would eat it all so my efforts in walking would be cancelled out. I have little self-control and now a house full of lemony treats!

Wishing some of my tea drinking buddies lived closer to share the treats! Liz? Jen? Jac? Steph?

Packing Away

I am trying to declutter - it comes and goes in waves. Last week I decided it was time to get the little people all in one box and into the garage. I won't get rid of them but they are taking up space and aren't used by the boys anymore. I was so pleased that I could fit them all in one box - so satisfying. The annoying zoo toy has a bird song that is slowly dying but goes off at the slightest touch - this photo is of Indie wondering why there is noise coming from the box.

Belated Birthday Gifts

Seth is most pleased with his belated gifts. He has watched Ninjago over and over and much Ninjago spinning has occurred. Today he is making the Super Hero Lego with Berty.
Thank you Aunty Jacqui and Aunty Jen and families xo

Have new oven - will bake

Xavi and I had a day at home today. I had such a big weekend I couldn't fathom the thought of talking to people at bookworms so we stayed home. It was really nice - felt like a 'real mum'. We walked/scootered to school and then

I washed and hung out washing, swept and cleaned and baked! Ok so the cupcakes were from a sneaky packet but the lemon loaf and the sausage rolls were from scratch. I even cooked and mushed up pumpkin and broccoli to hide in the sausage rolls!

I am now exhausted - tomorrow will probably consist of very little - very, very little. Xavi was even well behaved today - a welcome surprise considering his recent run of shocking behavior!
