Welcome
For a long time I have been saying that I should write a blog about our family for our friends who live far away. As more of our friends are moving away I have finally got myself organised to do one!! Who knows how this will go - bear with me as I work this out :) Let the blogging begin.....

A couple of updates
So just checking in to say that I have done 2 fast days since my last post. That's some accountability right there. Now to do a bunch more.
Secondly Seth loved camp. It rained for most of it so they didn't get to do the open fire camp dinner thingy or go canoeing but fun was had none the less. He did archery, the big swing, team building games, some inside maze thing and a bunch of other fun things. It was a good experience and he is looking forward to the next one. Maybe we should send him to Millamani next year? Hmmmmm
He also learnt that some kids are just jerks and in his words 'a real pain in the butt'. I am not glad that there are those kids but I am glad that he realises that's what they are and that he chooses not to be one of them. May God always grant him the wisdom to realise that popular kids are usually just jerks and that it's better to have loyal friends who stick by you and like you for you. Here endeth my sermon.

Year 4 Camp
When did Seth get old enough to go on camp? Where did that time go?
He wasn't jump out of your skin excited - just quietly ready to spread his independent wings and not be at school for three days.
I wondered how I would feel with him heading off on the bus for two nights but I was really ok with it. Even tonight knowing I won't see him until tomorrow afternoon I am ok. The house is definitely different without him but we have done ok. Can't wait to hear all his camp stories when he returns - I am sure he will talk for days!!!

This is his buddy Noah. We like Noah a lot. He is a really great friend and they get on really well. They are bunk buddies on camp. Look at that smile - that says I am ready to go.

Clever chicken
Get back to it
So I have fallen off the 5&2 bike the last few weeks....maybe months! Anyway the last couple of days my skinny jeans have felt a little tighter than I would like.....the time has come to jump back on the bike and start peddling again.
There are lots of reasons for why I have not been doing so great of late. I will put it down mostly to the cold weather and the need to fill my belly with warm food. To be honest though the real problem has been pure laziness.
Berty has lost so much weight - he looks amazing and he has kept it off. Yes I am very pleased for him but it's also really annoying. He can eat whatever he likes and still keep it off. Very frustrating. Aren't I encouraging? Such a supportive and loving wife.
So I am writing this as a way of being accountable to myself. If I write and post this then you all know that I am pledging to go back to fasting 2 days a week - I really am.
Tomorrow it will start again - I will be fit and fabulous for summer.......bahahahaha ok I will be a healthy size 12.

Stage 2 Performance
Every second year HPPS does stage performances. Every kid in every class gets up and has a dance in flashy costumes. Although some of the boys look a little unimpressed most of them actually seem to enjoy it and it's a great experience for them. Most of the teachers make a real effort to make the songs and performances boy friendly.
The Stage 2 theme was 'Rock through the ages' - really it is a very loosely followed theme but a fun one none the less. Seth's teacher loves to think out of the box. She found a song called 'Fossil Rocks' (you can YouTube it) and it was to the tune of Party Rock. Although I am fundamentally against some of the facts in the song it was a fun song for the kids to do. Lots of shuffling and dressing up like palaeontologists.

Seth is up the back with the red star glasses on.

Seth is on the far left getting his shuffle on.
It was a great show.
Xavier's is next term. He is doing a song from Aladdin and is soooo excited!!

School Photos 2014
Don't you think school photos are like playing an expensive game of chance? You give the photographer lots of money in the hope that they will actually take a good photo of your child. Even if they take an awful photo they still get to keep the money and you are left with a lasting reminder of that particular year in your child's schooling.
Anyway the dice was rolled and..... This year we won! Photos are both pretty good. Seth looks like a happy 10 year old and isn't doing his normal photo face. Xavi is doing a bit of a cheesy smile but those dimples, oh my those dimples!!

Goal reached - Hair RED!
I have had a secret goal for a long time.
If I lost a certain amount of weight I would allow myself to fulfil a long time wish to colour my hair red.
Look to be honest I would like to lose another 5kg but I have lost enough to be happier and healthier at this point in time, so when my hairdresser asked if we should do it on Friday I said yes!! It is bright, it is different - I like it!!

Mabelle turns 11
We had the pleasure of celebrating Mabelle's 11th birthday with her last week.
Friday night was just us and the Rivas' - lots of games, presents, lollies, cake and fun was had.
Mabelle had spent months cutting up confetti which they were then allowed to throw all over the lounge room. Such a mess - so much fun!
We love our Mabs - she is a gift and treasure xx

Holiday with the Rivas'
After we got back from Melbourne we spent a few days with the Rivas'. The house we rented was not fabulous but the company was. We had such a great time. Lots of Fletcher cuddles, frisbee throwing, playing at the park, chatting and just time together. It was really fun. We stopped on the way home to have lunch with Aunty Leone and Uncle George which was lovely too.
I love that the cousins just love being together. Makes my heart happy.

Melbourne
Berty and I don't usually celebrate wedding anniversaries. They come at the end of crazy June and we are tired and broke. This year was our 15th wedding anniversary and I think that is significant. Melbourne very kindly started showing Les Mis that same week so I was able to convince Berty that we should go away for a few nights - he loooooves Les Mis and I looooove Melbourne so it was a win win. Much food was eaten, coffee was consumed, lots of walking and lots of relaxing. Les Mis was fabulous.
It was just great - wondering when we can get back there?
